A couple of shots from the Powercords' set before Gertie Fox's and some images from the floor

A few friends of mine are in a band, Gertie Fox...

And I decided to take a few shots during one of their shows at the Knitting Factory back in mid-December.

A few shots from a Event I shot earlier this month

I shot these on the patio at Holly's in Hollywood, Calif. It was sort of an impromptu, one light, location portrait session. I've been having a blast at all of these events I've been shooting, this particular one involved ex-pro-skater Chad Muska DJing in a small, but classy venue. Music, drinks, and admission all paid for, plus a paycheck... Good times!

Halloween Night at The Abbey in West Hollywood...

I was hired by a promotional company to shoot at The Abbey Food & Bar in West Hollywood on Halloween Night. It was a crazy night with lots of interesting characters out walking the streets. The city blocked off Santa Monica Blvd. and basically turned West Hollywood into a freakshow, block party for the night. Unfortunately, since I was working, I was pretty much confined to The Abbey. However, The Abbey is very "alternative lifestyle" (what a cheeseball term) friendly, so it was a pretty wild scene unto itself. Below, I've posted images of some of the characters I met that night. Keep checking back, because there's still more to come!

Inconspicuously smoking?

Does anyone not love a giant Panda?

Trying to catch up...

It's been a crazy couple of months since I moved to L.A. I've been sending resumes out and cold calling photographers like crazy looking for assisting work. Things are starting to look pretty good, but it's hard because I don't know many assistants and most work in this business comes from networking with your peers. I did manage to land a couple of good jobs and it looks like things may pick up over the next few months. It's getting started that's difficult. I've got a few more prospects for assisting work, but since I'm not "known" by anyone it's an uphill battle to get people to try me out. I did pick up an event photography gig on Halloween that has already led to another job this month and looks like it'll be a regular source of income for awhile. I was hired to shoot the Halloween festivities at The Abbey just off Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood. It was a crazy event with lots of interesting characters and I'll be posting images from it soon, so stay tuned. In the mean time, here are a few photos from my girlfriends birthday party last month, hope ya'll enjoy 'em!

Yeni's B-day @ The Bigfoot Lodge...

For you fellow photo nerds out there, I shot most of these photos with available light and a 1/2 sec. exposure at the fast end, so most of them are pretty blurry. I knew they would be and I actually accentuated a few of them because I've been playing around with a "blurry" pic project. So, I apologize if you get dizzy while viewing this post. On the other hand, maybe it'll help you "feel" like you right there with us... matching us all shot for shot. ;-)
