Trying to catch up...

It's been a crazy couple of months since I moved to L.A. I've been sending resumes out and cold calling photographers like crazy looking for assisting work. Things are starting to look pretty good, but it's hard because I don't know many assistants and most work in this business comes from networking with your peers. I did manage to land a couple of good jobs and it looks like things may pick up over the next few months. It's getting started that's difficult. I've got a few more prospects for assisting work, but since I'm not "known" by anyone it's an uphill battle to get people to try me out. I did pick up an event photography gig on Halloween that has already led to another job this month and looks like it'll be a regular source of income for awhile. I was hired to shoot the Halloween festivities at The Abbey just off Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood. It was a crazy event with lots of interesting characters and I'll be posting images from it soon, so stay tuned.
